For this question, I think it would depend on the reason why you were rejected on the first application. Was it a simple error like a wrong date, wrong photo specifications, etc? If so, I would answer no, you weren’t refused a visa for visiting India, your application was only rejected because of a minor mistake. This is different from refusing you a visa because you aren’t eligible for some reason.

Hi Abigail! Glad the post was helpful for you. Yes, it should be okay to put married on the application. Like you say, the marital status isn’t shown on the passport anyway, and spouse names aren’t always changed right away after marriage either, or sometimes they never change. So that should be fine.

As far as I know, there’s no minimum amount of time to wait before re-applying. If the online system allows you to re-apply, then I would go ahead and try again. Do you know why you were rejected the first time? I would figure that out before re-applying. Good luck!

Another important question – for the “Has permission to visit or to extend stay in India previously been refused?” question on page 4 – would my previous e-visa rejection quality as a “yes”?

Thank you!

I’m flying to India in a month and my e-visa application was just rejected (I traveled to India in early 2020 and had no issues at all) so I’m now going through the process of carefully re-applying… one question I’m hoping you can help me with: I just got married 2 weeks ago, do you expect it to be an issue to check the “married” box despite the fact my (USA & Israeli) passports say nothing about being married (or single, for that matter?) also -I can’t seem to find anything online about a minimum amount of time to wait before re-applying… any idea? Trying to minimize all odds of being rejected again. Thanks so much again, really appreciate your guidance.

Hi David, Thanks for your quick replies! Thanks for checking too. Our trip’s arrival in the area to climb Ijen is Oct 5th, that’s the night we were hoping to do the hike to see the blue fire, the group we’re with are doing the sunrise hike on the 6th leaving at 4am….one we were going to miss if we were doing the blue fire hike as we would have been picked up at midnight. However, we are hopeful, so if you’re able to give us an update and a tour recommendation when you know, we’d be very grateful. Thankyou.

Hi guys. Unfortunately it sounds like most Ijen tours are still starting at 2 or 3 AM and skipping the blue fire, even though it’s supposed to be open now. Is your trip date coming up soon? Hopefully things change before long. I’ll try to give an update and a tour recommendation as soon as I know more. Regards

Hi. If you mean the viewpoint of the waterfall, it’s inside of the main waterfall area, so you can’t see it unless you get past the scammers, unfortunately. But if you just want to see the view of the rice terraces and mountains, park at Warung Fiji.

Hi where do we park if we just want to see the view point (20,000idr)? I plan to have a driver for the day but don’t want him to spot at the wrong place and we face getting scammed. Many thanks

Hi. I saw some recent Facebook comments about that, but the people said they started the Ijen hike at 2 AM. That’s too late to see the blue fire, because it takes 3 or 4 hours to hike from the entrance to the blue fire, which means they most likely got there at 5 or 6 AM (already some morning light). To see the blue fire, you have to start at midnight. That will put you inside the crater at about 3 or 4 AM, when it’s still very dark.

I’m not sure why the tours are still starting at 2 AM though. It could be lazy tour operators, or maybe the Kawah Ijen management has changed their mind again about opening the blue fire route. Hopefully we can clarify soon.
